Orienteering update
Like many sporting events this year, the Merseyside and Cheshire Schools Orienteering League came to an abrupt end in March with the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This meant that the final scheduled event of the season, a relay at Stadt Moers Country Park, had to be cancelled. However, a total of 9 students from Upton took part in one or more of the 5 events that were contested. For much of the season the Upton team held on to second place in the league but we slipped to a very respectable fifth place (out of eighteen teams) after the final, blustery event held amongst the sand dunes of Raven Moels, Formby.
Three students from Upton won medals in the individual rankings with Ben winning first place in the Boys Year 7 competition, Libby took third place in the Girls Year 8 competition and Tom came second in the Boys Year 9 competition.
Well done to all those who took part in one or more of the orienteering events this year. Mr Bell will be posting details for anyone interested in taking part in the 2020-2021 season when we are back in school in September.
