Year 11 learners sign up for NCS in record numbers
Leading the way in the Northwest area for participants, we have over 60 learners set to attend this summer's National Citizen Service Programme, more than double the number of any secondary school in the whole of Cheshire and The Wirral.
The programme is aimed at those who have finished school and takes place between finishing Year 11 and the next phase in their education. The course includes a one week residential, involving adventure activities and water sports, followed by two weeks of skills-based learning, project designing and voluntary work. For those who complete the course they will be awarded a certificate from the Prime Minister and will be able to use their experience to enhance their CVs, letters of application for college, university or employment and provide a discussion point in any interviews they may have in the future.
As a reward for Upton High School having so many of our Year 11 learners express an interest in taking part, NCS awarded 3 vouchers to the school to be presented to 3 lucky learners. Libby, Patrick and Isobel won one £50 and two £25 vouchers between them and are now looking forward to attending their courses in the summer break.
