Upton students took part in the UKMT Intermediate Challenge on 5th February.
The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils. Last academic year over 600,000 pupils from 4,000 schools took part in the three individual challenges, the UK's biggest national maths competitions.
Maya Williams (Y11), Emily Pogue (Y11) & Lucy Birchall (Y10) achieved Bronze certificates.
Joseph Walker (Y11), Elizabeth Dearden-Williams (Y10) & George Metcalf (Y10) achieved Gold certificates.
Joseph and Elizabeth scored in the top 3000 nationally and on 17th March took part in the next stage competition called The Pink Kangaroo which involves students from across Europe.
The students had answered some very demanding problem solving questions to achieve these awards and they should be very proud of themselves.
