GCSE Media Studies
The media curriculum is underpinned by engagement with the four key concepts: media language, representation, audience & industry. Learners study examples of both historical and contemporary media and will explore a series of Close Study Products during the course.
Learners are assessed with two written examinations:
Paper 1: Television & Promoting Media (35% of course)
Set topics include television shows from the 1960s and 2010s as well as film franchises, gaming, merchandise and advertising.
Paper 2: Music & News (35% of course)
Set topics include music magazines, music videos, radio as well as contemporary and 1960s news media.
Learners are also assessed on a production piece:
NEA (30% of course)
Set tasks include magazine production, music video, television drama & documentary plus website creation.
