Dear Parent/Carer

Hello, my name is Mr Millar and I am the guitar, ukulele and bass guitar teacher at Upton-by-Chester High School.  

If your child was having lessons at primary school, we would love it if they continued their learning with us at Upton-by-Chester High School.  However, complete beginners are very welcome too!  So don't worry if you have never picked up a guitar, bass or ukulele before.  

Guitars, bass guitars and ukuleles are available within school for your child to borrow during their lesson, but it is advisable that they have one at home to practise.  

Lessons are charged at £7.20 per 20 minute one to one session and payment is taken in advance of each term.  This is excellent value. Graded exams are available for those who choose to participate, which gives pupils credit for their achievements and encourages structured learning. These graded exams can also earn valuable UCAS points further into their learning.  

Learning a musical instrument builds confidence and is proven to improve brain function, which helps pupils in all areas of learning.  Most importantly, it is a constructive use of time and is fun!
