Key Stage 4

GCSE Learners follow OCR Religious Studies, Philosophy & Ethics GCSE specification. The aim of the GCSE course is to enable learners to build on their Key Stage 3 knowledge and skills. There are three examinations:

Paper 1 Christianity, beliefs & practices.

How it's assessed

  • Written exam: 1 hour
  • 63 marks (including 3 marks for spelling, punctuation, grammar and specialist terminology (SPaG))
  • 25% of GCSE

Paper 2  Islam beliefs & practices

How it's assessed

  • Written exam: 1 hour
  • 63 marks (including 3 marks for SPaG)
  • 25% of GCSE

Paper 3 Religion, philosophy and ethics in the modern world from a Christian perspective

How it's assessed

  • Written exam: 2 hours
  • 126 marks (including 6 marks for SPaG)
  • 50% of GCSE
