Dear Parent/Guardian,
Re: Instrumental Tuition
I am writing to invite you to offer you the opportunity for your child to learn a musical instrument.
Here at Upton, we have a large experienced team of specialists, giving lessons of 20 minutes duration both individually and/or in groups, depending on the instrument.
Students have the opportunity to learn any of a wide variety of instruments including: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Voice, Piano, Keyboard, Guitar (Acoustic, Electric, Bass and Ukulele), Drums, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Percussion, Violin, Cello and Viola.
Lessons take place during school time and after school time. They are rotated, so pupils do not miss the same lesson each week, but it is expected that each individual pupil will be responsible for catching up on any missed work.
We are incredibly lucky that lesson fees are significantly subsidised from the school budget (52% subsidy), but the balance must be met by parental contributions, which is NON-REFUNDABLE. The current fees are:
£63 per term
Or
£160 per annum
This provides a minimum of 30 lessons over the school year.
Instrumental students have the opportunity to contribute to one or more of the School’s extra curricular music groups. These include: Choir, Band, Musical Theatre Group, Guitar Club and Vocal Group. As members of the music groups, they also have first refusal of the departments exciting annual trips to Pantomime, theatre productions, International Eisteddfod as well as performing in and around the wider community across Cheshire.
If you would like your child to be enrolled for instrumental lessons, please complete the attached form and return to me at school by Friday 17th September 2021.
Should you have any further questions about music, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely,
Miss C A Thompson
(Head of Music)
